Wrote Today? Yup!

Quick check in: wrote some more on Story Blue today. It sits at just under 3000 words- which is nothing spectacular but definitely a good start.

It’s going to be a challenging week coming up to stick to my 30 Days of Write challenge- I’ll be out of town for work most of the week. I’m making my list of everything I need to keep writing while traveling. Wish me luck and stay tuned!

The Pack Rat and the Minimalist

Opposites attract. Or is it oil and water don’t mix? One of those cliches defines the relationship with my wife. (OK- realistically, probably both at different times…)

The aspect of our relationship that I’d like to explore today deals with stuff. Specifically, my stuff. More specifically, my stuff that I’ve been lugging around for years and years and years. That kind of stuff.

Every relationship has stuff that creates conflict. These items form the battlefront of the Stuff Wars. A No Man’s Land, if you will.

T.G.I.F.F.

Thank God It’s F*cking Friday!

Why is it that the 4 day work weeks seem to be tougher than the 5 day variety?

This is definitely a filler post- we will resume our regularly scheduled writing tomorrow…

Embracing the Squirmy Worms

I had the opportunity to take my 5 year old son, aka the Noodle, to his Karate class this evening. Usually Mom has that duty but her schedule was jam-packed today. Even though I don’t always go to his class, I love watching him in that setting.

Driving him today I got to thinking, as I always seem to lately, how his perspective and embrace of the unknown compares and contrasts with my own process of connecting with my creative side. (Note to self: topic for a future post- is it always about me?) The more I thought about it, the more I realized that his 5 year old perspective warrants some consideration.

Cup of Coffee and 100+ Words

Woot! I am energized! I woke up this morning with the need to write. I got my cup of coffee, cranked up the PC and got a little under 200 words in on Story Blue. Just a quick hit this morning before work- but I will definitely be coming back to it this evening.

I really need to get back to this routine- getting up and writing while I’m feeling creative (and before all of my critical filters are awake!) If I feel this good when I’m writing then why do I allow myself to get sidetracked? All of my responsibilities offer plenty of distraction but I need to carve out this 10 minutes to engage my creativity. I’ll see how it feels throughout the day but I’m hoping this gets me on the right track today!

Do you have something that gives you a kick start in your day? What it is ? Please- share!
