No Talking!

People fascinate me. I am, truly, an ardent fan of human quirks. I can sit and watch people for a LOOOOOONG time.

At heart, I am a shy person. I’m not the one that goes into a room full of strangers and starts chatting people up. I am very content to sit with my thoughts and simply watch as the human condition plays out in front of me.

It’s the Blog That Says “Bad Mother Fu…”

A funny thing happened on the way to my blog today…

I’ve just about finished a nice little mini-vacation- a very long weekend with a couple of weddings and a visit from my youngest brother, Joey, and his partner, Jerry. Good times! I’ve been thinking all day about what I wanted to write about this evening. After putting the Noodle and the Goon to bed (our 5 and 3 year old boys), I was flipping channels before coming downstairs to write. I came across Pulp Fiction about halfway through on HBO. Yup- I’ll watch that again…

Spreading the Love

I thought I’d share some of the blogs that I follow. Check them out- you might enjoy them as well!

In no particular order:

  • So Far Untitled – A nice bloke over in the UK that seems to be on a similar journey- has a day job but really wants to write. I find his stuff very easy to read and enjoyable. Check out his blog here.
  • Thaddeus Miles 365 Project Page – About halfway through a daunting challenge- a photographer, he’s taking or posting a photo every day in 2012. He’s got a great eye and has posted some really amazing photos. Take a look here.
  • Joe’s Shitty Ideas – Funny stuff; quick hits in the spirit of “Shit My Dad Says!”. Instead of a crusty Dad, the author has a friend, Joe, notorious for, well, shitty ideas! Read about a shitty idea here.
  • Sparkling By The Way’s Blog – Disclaimer: written by my wife’s best friend. If you like your humor somewhat sardonic, this is for you! Read it here.
  • Panekroom’s Blog – Big disclaimer: I sleep with the author! 😉 My wife’s very funny blog. Check it out here.

Enjoy- and good reading!

Free Books for Kids!

Day 2 of my 30 Days of Write challenge. I woke up this morning tired (late night last night with the rehearsal dinner for a friend’s wedding) but energized and ready to write! I was thinking about the flip side of writing- reading. This seemed like a great opportunity to spread the word about a great summer reading activity (that is FREE!) for kids from Barnes & Noble.

30 Days of Write

Alright- June 1st. This blog has been up and running for almost 4 months. I’ve posted around 35 pieces in that time. Better progress than the last 20 years (with a count of… oh, say… 0!) I’m enjoying the writing. I’ve figured some things out related to my creative process. I’m emotionally invested in this process. (If you’re interested in the story of my journey to unlock my creative side, check out the posts in my “Open Notebook” category…)

I’m happy about where I’m at- but I’m not at a point where writing is something I do every day- or even every other day. I feel fulfilled and content when I’m working on something (or have just completed it) but I’m not spending enough of my time on this thing that is clearly a priority for me. So- what do I do now?
